Shards and Fragments

Hmmmmmm… blank pages, they are always somewhat unnerving of me.

I have a friend who claims he has ‘one bead’ in him. This comment came about after a conversation on glass blowing, previous lives, creativity and what else might be possible in ways of being in the world. He said he has ‘one glass bead’ to make, not a necklace, not a bracelet, not a collection of glass beads, just un numero uno glass bead.

I found this idea to be liberating. One doesn’t have to write a book, or a chapter, just fragments, so this blank page can become a site for lodging thought fragments, rather than a requirement for writing meaning-filled and cogent prose.  Hurrah.

Thinking this way meant I could jot down loose ended thinking, shards of ideas that catch my inner eye with regard to illness narratives, their application, purpose, politics, language and possibilities . My hope is to follow up these fragmentary musings with a  ‘so what’ in relation to therapeutic practice and write a little bit about the possibilities that come forward.
